My name is Riley Terhaar I grew up on a farm in Minnesota where I learned welding and fabrication from my dad. I fell in love with blacksmithing after attending threshing B’s and fairs that had blacksmithing demonstrations. I convinced my dad to help me convert our old charcoal grill into a forge and the rest, as they say, is history. I took a long break from blacksmithing to get a degree in Aerospace Engineering, but after college I built a propane forge in my back yard and fell in love all over again. I still try to build as much of my own equipment as possible. After moving to Boise, Idaho I decided to leave engineering and pursue blacksmithing as a career. My goal is to make metalwork that is as complex, heavy, and beautiful as the musical genre that shares a name with the material. I consider this a lifelong journey, and if you’re impressed with my work now I have two words for you “just wait”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
